26 September 2019. At Cretan Gastronomy Days, Heraklion, Crete. Shared with the lovely Anke! The blonde Ale by a relatively new microbrewery (perhaps even nanobrewery) in Crete. Pours hazy yellow with a lasting, small, frothy, white head. Aroma of banana, wheat, freshly cut yellow apple, white bread, apricot, clove. Taste is light to medium fruity sweet, notes of banana, apple & pear, all in all quite estery over a thick bready malty base, a bit (wheaty) sour, a bit yeasty, with soft bitter spices underneath. Dryish, faintly grassy hoppy finish, spices, bread & (estery) yeast lingering but balanced. Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Slick & refreshing Blonde Ale, pretty 'standard' but well-made, promising as a start.
