Voor batch 41 heeft de La Trappe Quadrupel ruim 2 jaar gerijpt op rode wijn vaten afkomstig uit de Franse Gaillac streek. Voor deze rode wijn zijn de druivensoorten Braucol en Duras gebruikt. De Braucol druif staat bekend om zijn pittige aroma’s van groene paprika’s, zwarte bessen en rode bessen. Duras druiven staan bekend om hun body, structuur, kruidige aroma’s en fijne tannines. Deze rode wijn heeft 3 jaar lang zijn smaak afgegeven aan de eikenhouten vaten die zijn gebruikt voor deze batch. Batch 41 kenmerkt zich als een perfect huwelijk tussen La Trappe Quadrupel, rode wijn en eikenhout.

Donkerbruin bier, licht troebel.
Aroma is fruitig van donker fruit.
Smaak is zoetig.
Smaak ebt snel weg.

Fles gedeeld met Inoven, Keukeman en Roelzie. Het is een helder roodbruin bier met een dun beige schuim. Het heeft een aroma van wijn, druif en gebrande eik. De smaak is vol fruitig, fris zuur en zacht houtig.

Bottle shared, dark light murky amber brown. Small head. Aroma is malt, sweet, vinous, red wine, oak. Taste is the same, sweet, vinous, red wine, oak, malty, raisins. Not bad.

Taster at home courtesy of Sander, big thanks. brown color with a redish hue. small white head. smells big dried fruits, figs, raisins, berry notes, oak, marzipan, light sweetness, light sherry notes. quite nice smell. full body, no carbonation. tastes of oak, light sweetness, marzipan, candy, dried fruits again, figs, candied sugar, bit boozy. finishes lightly sweet with notes of dried fruits, figs and candied sugar. pretty nice one, not overly complex, not very distinct from other variants.

Bottle at home. Nice dark red to red-brown color, medium sized off-white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, sweetness, caramel, caramelized sugars. Should be red wine barrel aged, but I don't get that in the flavor. Might be me though. Still, since the base beer is so good, this is a lovely beer anyway.
