"Kössel Bräu Antonator", jetzt mit 8 % (früher 7), Flasche von Liebick (oder Ehrenreich, LL), geleert 17.5.2025. - Dunkles Kastanienrotbraun, kaum trüb. - In der Nase reiches dunkles Malz mit röstigen Zügen, Kaffee, Karamel, Waldhonig und frische herbale Hopfung, leichte Likörnote. - Antrunk kernig dunkelmalzig und röstig mit Mokka, Nougat, Bitterschokolade, dezenter Süße und wärmender Likörnote; aufgelockert durch frische orangenfruchtige und herbale Hopfung, welche die Kaffeebittere gut ergänzt. Milder rezent, nicht plump. Im Abgang feine Hopfenherbe. - Komplexer, tief dunkelmalziger und durch großzügige (aber nicht zu bittere) Hopfung strukturierter Doppelbock. Ein Hochgenuß!

Meine frühere Bewertung (29.4.2021: 6,1) - "Sehr süßer, fett malziger aber nicht allzu komplexer Bock. Nach den großartigen sonstigen Mariahilfer Bieren beinahe eine Enttäuschung" - muß ich revidieren, sie bezog sich auch auf die Version mit 7 %.

Bottle from The Beer Cave. Hazy amber body with a few flecks floating beneath a thin beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of toffee apple and caramel. Flavour of raisin and caramel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. A sweet, rich Doppelbock that goes down well for 8% ABV. I liked this and am surprised its score on RateBeer (54/52 at the time of writing) isn’t higher than it is.

Bottle online from Raynville Superstore. Pours a hazy deep caramel brown colour with a reddish hue and a large thick foamy beige head. Typical Doppelbock aromas of fruit cake, dry dark fruits, brown bread and caramel. Taste has the same notes detected in the aroma. A touch smokey with added notes of peppery spice and some ash on the finish. Some brown sugar and toasty brown bread makes this beer fairly well balanced. Decent Doppelbock but there is certainly better out there.

500 ml bottle. Almost clear dark copper with a big fluffy head. Rum, cognac, caramel, dry citrus, booze, metal. Malty boozy sweetness, dry metallic bitterness. Full bodied, oily texture, lively carbonated, dry bittersweet boozy finish. Quite nice, surprisingly drinkable, yet rather boozy.

500ml Bottle - Copper red with a haze. Raisins, leather, caramel and marzipan in the aroma. Fruity and malty taste with raisins, berries, marzipan and leather detected. Rich yet not excessively so.

Buegelverschlußflasche: Brownish coloured, hazy with loads of small floaties, wuickly collapsing loose brownish head, mild to moderate sweetish caramelly-toasty nose with fruity (yeasty?) traces and a delicate touch of alcohol; moderate sweetish-bitter flavour, hardly full bodied, pretty fizzy; slightly lingering, drier alcoholic and sweet-bitter finish. No glory! Harsh and not well balanced…

Bottle. Chestnut, foamy cream. Herbal and spicy nose, fresh apple, wood barrel dry roast. Medium full dry chewy, umami roast, light apple and grass, Streuselkuchen, dark sugar and caramel roast. Funky and interesting. Sweet caramel aftertaste.

Bottle. Hazy dark amber-brown color with beige head. Aroma is fresh green apple peel, chocolate. Taste is green apple peel, chocolate, black bread, quite fresh and fruity. Dry mineralic mouthfeel with medium to high, but small-bubbled carbonation. I'm not sure this is intended, but I like the flavour profile!

Süßlicher Geruch. Im Antrunk eher trocken mit erhöhter Karbonisierung, brotig herb, relativ süffig. Milde Noten von Schokolade im Mittelteil, zunehmend alkoholisch. Okay. 8/9/9/8/11/9

Hazy brown with medium white head. Aroma is citrus pips chestnut grass minimal roast and brown sugar. Taste is a bit sour citrus with medium caramel sweetness and medium roast bitterness. Medium body ok drinkable. Slight mealy finish. The combination of fresh sourness and doppelbock is rather meh for me.
