We don’t take brewing a beer like this lightly. It has to make sense, and the flavors have to be soft, rounded, elegant, and easy to drink all the way through the glass.
To that end, we consider Emperor Julius to be a triumph. It pours an opaque orange in the glass and gives off notes of orange juice, orange Starburst, and overripe mango.
It’s the summation of almost 15 years of refinement of our unique style of hoppy beer - our life's work. Enjoy!

16oz can pours a murky, dark orange with plenty of creamy white head. Nose is big, huge citrus and soap, booze, raw tropicals, fusel. Flavor has lots of dried herbs and dried citrus peel, raw. Green. Hot finish, boozy and astringent.

Can (5/24/22) pour from trade with Chalumeaux--thanks, TJ! It's an opaque, light brown-dark orange with light sparkle, thin cap of creamy off-white head with fair retention and nice lacing. Aroma is strong tangerine, mango, melon and lemon. Taste is strong, nonspecific sweet fruit (mango and tangerine?) covering up some alcohol. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with thick, frothy texture, average carbonation and dry finish as taste. Overall, aroma is really nice but flavor doesn't match it. Age probably doesn't help. A bit too carbonated. Not legendary.
Candied citrus, orange, tangerine, citrus pith, aromatice.hips with a nice balanced bitterness in the finish.

Can, from the brewery. Pours extremely hazy dark yellow like peach juice, foamy light beige head, unripe mango-peach aroma, adequate carbonation, medium bitter unripe mango-peach-citrus taste, somewhat thick body, long finish with some alcohol burn. Very satisfying!

473ml can. Chewy fruity with some orange juice, pine, citrus and grapefruit. Malty, hoppy and slightly bitter, pretty balanced with creamy body.

Medium body, hoppy, fruity, sweet, boozy. Orange, mango, tropical fruit, nice bitterness. Alcohol seeps through a bit, but really smooth and tasty. Excellent.

Pours deep hazy mango into a shaker. White head with good retention recedes leaving sheet lacing to mottle surface. Mango and coconut aromas. Soft and creamy with hot mango, apricot, melon, lychee, guava, passion fruit, tangerine, coconut and pineapple front to back. All without fruit ... how?

Canned 1/26/22, drunk 2/8/22. Mega-hazy/turbid, dark copper-to-orange-smoothie-looking with a small, off-white, moderately-strongly retained head. Pure juice nose is soft, even, complemented by typical estery Tree House yeast notes and backed by rich, substantial, honey-drenched, biscuity malts. No alcohol noted nor any hop twang, just a ton of strawberry, orange and watermelon. Spicy and lightly juicy to start, with drying, fresh-baked biscuit-like malts and less honey-like intensity than normal. Attenuation is quite high, which is great, but it does expose more spice, potpourri, light pine and, inevitably at 8.8%, light alcohol (though it's not messy/hot/sharp). Watermelon, mango, all sorts of orange and a peppery, spicy, touch piney note that balances the juice and, with warming, increasingly sweeter malt. Lovely stuff and a great balance, though maybe not as excitingly complex or explosive as some of my personal favorites from TH. But delicious and well-done, to be sure.
Do like it, looks like chalky orange mineral water, prefer this than the king julius..

Bottle shared at yearly Fryslân tasting. Ugly murky yellow color, huge sized white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, sweetish, average bitter, malt bitter, hop bitter. Firm bitterness in the aftertaste. Solid though not great.
