This is the beer which started it all. Braybrooke Keller Lager is our version of the Franconian Kellerbier, an unfiltered and unpasteurised beer which keeps all of the best flavour while delivering the ultimate lager refreshment.

It’s a proper lager, which means bottom-fermentation, cold storing then maturing over a number of weeks before release. Full flavoured, thanks to our Franconian malt and hops, this is lager as it’s meant to be.

Bottle from Wine Reserve, Cobham (not Chobham - admittedly initially got that the wrong way around). Sweet gluey marzipan aroma. Caramel brown. Thin translucent white head mainly clings to the rims. Light nutty sweetness with some bitterness hanging around on the periphery. Medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Long slightly sickly finish. Had heard good things about this brewey but this is just an average, if not overly chemical/industrial, lager. Looking at previous rating, perhaps it's better on tap.

Many thanks to jjsint in Leicester for a bottle, #042, of this one. Bubbly pearl white head to a clear golden-brown body, clingy lacing. Earthy malts on the nose, distant hints of herbal hops. Pale malt driven flavours with impacts of noble hops. Mid-dry ending. Clean on the swallow. Satisfying. (Shared with lmojoh, Finn and djoeye, Rating session at Finn's in Tromsø 06.03.2019).
