Can - pours a turbid dark amber with a thick, well-sustained head - really soft carbonation in the mouth (almost feels cask-conditioned) - moderately sweet, rich malt character - not quite as smoky as you'd expect from the german examples, but still pretty rich on the smokiness - maple is subtle but present - dries out and gets mildly bitter on the tail end - smoke intensifies in the finish - balanced, nuanced, and tasty.

$3.50 pint can, WW. This sounds delightful. Slightly hazy brown with a small beige head. Nose is light maple, light smoke, light brown leaf. Flavor is good: brown leaf, maple syrup, followed by lightly smoked peat. Amp this baby up and make it an imperial and it'd be awesome. As it stands now, it's quite good, but I want more.

Pours dark mahogany into an English pint. Off-white head with good retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Sweet smoke aromas. Medium bodied with dark caramel, maple and smoked meat upfront turning to mildly bitter charred toast in the medium length finish. Nice.

On tap at the Sampler. Pours rubescent dark brown. Chocolate, maple, biscuit, hint of smoke. Medium body. Decent.

16 ounce can from half-time. Dark brown poor with a thin, creamy beige head. Malty aroma with hints of smoke and ash. Taste brings more of the malts, nutty, and more of the light smokiness. A little bit of sweetness from the maple syrup, but you really have to look for it.

Can: pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is lightly smokey, with hints of maple. Smoke is pretty light, taste is a bit sweet from the maple, which shines through nicely. Pretty light. Slightly roasty finish.
