Draft at Rustico. Cloudy golden color. Weird aroma of clove and coconut. Taste is sour coconut. Odd oily mouthfeel. Interesting.

One Mile House, New York tap: pours orange with a white head. Aroma is spicy, yeasty, bubblegum, and fruitiness. Taste is pretty sweet. Very light hoppy finish. It be kind of sugary. Not bad.

Tap at taproom, Miami. Hazy orange color, small white head, lace. Aroma has banana, coconut and herbs. Medium-bodied. Flavor has strong coconut, banana and light citrus. Mellow unconventional hefeweizen.

GABF 2015. Lots of coconut flavor, some banana and bubblegum. Good, thick palate. I don’t know about the coconut, I guess it works but this had enough quality as a regular hefeweizen it didn’t need it. Big white head, they got the appearance right. One of the best American hefeweizens I have had in a long time.

GABF 2015. Cloudy yellow appearance with an off white head. Heavy banana and phenols. Vanilla and coconut. Moderately sweet. A little doughy. It’s above average for the style but the yeast they use is awfully aggressive with the phenols and esters.

Cloudy pale. Aroma is fairly straightforward yeasty stuff, but the palate is where this really rocks. Sweet, beautiful fresh coconut...not toasted...really nice. Not only brings an extra dimension to the table, in a way that seems very natural. Probably the biggest surprise at JWB, an innovative take on the style that is seamless.
