Rustbucket, our trademark Rye Ale, now has a big brother, Black Bucket. This Black Rye IPA balances rye and roasted malts with fresh hop aromas and flavours. At 6.5% ABV Blackie is a little bigger in strength than his lighter sibling but we think he is every bit as drinkable.

Black, tan head, good lacing
Aroma of piney hops, citrus zest, slight herbal notes with a good dark malt background
Taste of piney hops, bitter citrus zest, slight herbal, plenty of bitter hops in this with a good stouty background of fairly bitter roast and dark malts. Lots of flavour. Not really getting the rye.
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, robust, roast not too bitter. Finish as main flavour.
Overall - It’s a black IPA to me and a very good one. Top beer from Kinnegar so far.

Bottle from McHughs. Brownish black with a tan head, excellent lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, a little toast. Flavour is burnt rye, smokey base, dry bitterness, makes the mouth water. Really long dry bitter finish. Superb.
