Sample (thanks fonefan!). Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is apples, some mild herbal tones. Flavour is apples, some herbal, mild earthy and some mild grainy tones. Nice, but slightly more depth wouldn't be a bad thing.

330 ml slimline can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. Dry-hopped organic cider, made with Topaz apples and hopped with Simcoe. ABV is 6.0%. Only slightly hazy deep golden colour, very moderate carbonation. Aroma of cider apples, hints of farmhouse, hops, oak and sulphites. Bone dry flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, and an unexpected hint of beef-stock. Not a cider I'll buy again.

Can. Unclear golden body under a small white head. Aroma has matured apple, grass and some slightly funky acidity. Taste has some kind of robust, matured yellow apple, grass and a mix of sweetness, acidity and bitterness. Actually, a rather rough expression here. Easy drinkable but not elegant.

Clear golden colour with light carbonation. Really interesting perfumed aroma with a little farmhouse funkiness too. It's dry and has a fair amount of tannin giving a good level of bitterness.

The ancient cider, though technically more a kind of wine to me, has been enjoying a remarkable revival in the wake of the craft beer movement, mostly due to its association with beer in English pubs; there have even been crossover effects, like applying the ‘eisbocking’ technique to them or, as in this case, (dry-)hopping them. Thanks to tderoeck for sharing the can. Some very thin strings of tiny bubbles are present in a hazy peach-hued orange blonde drink, obviously without a head. Aroma of dried and wrinkled apples, a very odd smell of liverwurst (not kidding!), moldy old apple peel, dust and old cardboard, old bread, unripe mandarin. Softly tart onset, stale apple juice effects, sweet apple-y core; no carb, soft and slick body, a tad vinous. Old white wine-like effects turn up further on, paired with this oniony, again liverwurst-like retronasal aroma which I can only ascribe to the hops that were added; bitterness remains very limited (after all only dry-hopping was applied here) so that the flavour as such remains quite juicy and sweet-sourish, with a kind of dustiness trailing behind I would personally associate with (stress?) ageing. Interesting to have a dry-hopped cider for once even if cider will never be my cup of tea, but difficult to judge, not only because I do not know how to rate cider but also because this one feels as if it tastes and smells very different from what the makers intended. Should revisit one in better condition if I ever come across it again…

18/VIII/22 - 33cl can from De Caigny shop at Billie’s Bierfestival, shared @ Alengrin’s place, BB: XI/2026 (2022-1010)
A little cloudy orange blond cider, no head. Aroma: very musty, moldy, dirty, cheesy, rather off, a hint of apple, dry, funky, dirty, some solvents, meh. Don’t like it very much. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: weird, bitter, tannins, lots of dry apple skin, weird acidity, bitter kiwi, meh. Aftertaste: soapy, dry, hoppy, nice and hoppy character at the end, lots of tannins, weird, dry.

330ml can at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a round bubbly white head. The aroma is apple and light orange citrus. The flavour is acidic, sour, with a light herbal, super dry, floral hop palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Didn’t care much for the floral hoppy finish.

Sample, thanks fonefan! Clear pale golden, small head. Citric nose with soem tropical fruit. BOne dry with light body and clean, crisp mouthfeel. Tart apples and mild citric acid, some tangerine atop. Mild apple skin bitternes. Very refreshing.
