We love sessionable beers, but some days they just can’t get the job done. So we took that old Propellor recipe, reworked it, dialed it up and honed it to this beautiful, high intensity, Turboprop of a triple, New England style IPA!

440 ml can, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Opaque yellow colour, moderate white head. Aroma of mango, papaya and guava. Citric flavour, also notes of said tropical fruits, a certain hopburn (which I like), moderate piney notes in the finish, some alcohol.

From tap at Apollon platebar, Bergen, 12.09.21. Cloudy pale peach colour. Diminishing white head. Aroma of rotten eggs, sweathy gym socks, farts, mango, papaya, lychee and various citrus. Taste of the same tropica fruits and citrus. Solid citrus bitterness. The rotten eggs, sweathy gym socks and farts in the aroma are disturbingly persistent-ish.

2021-09-01: Can at home. Pours cloudy golden with white head. Distinct aroma of of rotten eggs, rubber, tropical fruits. H2S usually disappears after opening a can or bottle - this is not the case here - free H2S aroma just gets stronger. Tastes sweet with little bitterness. Medium bodied. This one is not good at all! 3-4-5-4-8 2.4 Re-rated 2024-06-03: Can at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours cloudy golden with white head. Aroma of citrus, pine needles, tropical fruits, some vinousity and notes of sulfur. Tastes slightly bitter with some sweetness. Medium bodied, alcoholic warmth, dry mouthfeel. Much better than the last, actually one of the best NEIPAs of this strength.

440ml, #370, bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Patches on the surface of a murky golden body, fair lacing. Quite strong citrus nose partially overrun by scent of alcohol. Hop fruity taste with pineapple and orange, creamy malts beneath, disturbing alcohol to it. Ends with fruity bitterness and alcohol. Quite drinkable, heavy stuff, but too much alcohol to it. One-off, I guess. (Tromsø 19.08.2021).
