Can sample at a tasting at Yoav's place. Nice deep red color. Berries, jam, pickled vegetables note, a bit of vanilla, sourish and sweetish. Very nice.

Canned, from Beerdome. Hazy purple, minimal head. Aroma of black currant sorbet, boiled milk and butter. Tart with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Black currant sorbet dominates. Simplistic and infantile, as always in this style. I suck at buying beers...

Berliner Weisse with cranberry, blueberry, blackcurrant and vanilla, by one of the hottest Greek craft brewers of the moment; referring to the old 20th-century concept of the tiki bar. Pale yellowish beige, moussy, open ring of foam on a murky, deep chestnut brown beer with ruddy hue. Aroma completely distorted and offering very little of the used ingredients: indeed sour berries pierce through, but vanilla has faded as good as completely, and other, much weirder aromas emerge, varying between Flemish ‘stoofvleessaus’, balsamic vinegar, soggy brown bread, cloves and fried chicken liver. Tart onset, quite balsamico-ish due to that berry fructose sweetness interfering with the lactic and fruit acidity, softish carb, fleshy blueberries and blackcurrants clearly distinguishable (more so than the cranberries), hard-caramelly and brown-bready core, very herbal finish with clove, bayleaf and thyme features, low bitterness, ending in a fruity, vinous, berry juice-like tartness – while again the vanilla is all but absent. Almost like a fruited ‘oud bruin’ but indeed clean like a typical kettle sour, the berries are there to the brim, but there is something very peculiarly ‘off’ in the nose – even if the scents I captured, are not normally off-putting to me… Bizarre.

30/VII/21 - 33cl bottle, shared @ Bar Beenhouwer (Gent), BB: 25/III/23, batch: 538 (2021-717) Thanks to all for sharing tonight’s beers!
Clear brown beer, no head. Aroma: lots and lots of antibiotics syrup, vanilla impression, weird smell… MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots and lots of black currants, very fruity, blackberries, nice stuff. Aftertaste: little bitter, very fruity, lactose, other berries, fruity, more blackberries, some candy, nice but maybe a bit too much.
