Pour une bière fumée, j'ai été plutôt agréablement surpris. Les bières fumées sont en effet trop souvent peu raffinées avec un goût de fumé s'apparentant à de la mauvaise charcuterie. Sur cet Imperial Porter, le fumé est bien intégré, relativement modéré voire fin. Si bous ajoutez à cela des arômes francs de chocolat, café et caramel vous obtenez une bière de bonne facture. Les petits moins sont une texture que j'ai trouvé trop fine, une corpulence qui aurait pu être meilleure et un final que j'aurais aimé un peu plus brillant et long. Côté visuel nous sommes sur un noir total sans présence de mousse. Le nez se porte sur le fumé, le chocolat avec une pointe de café/chocolat. L'attaque présente une bonne intensité avec un excellent équilibre malt/houblon. Le fumé est présent sans être omni présent et donc écœurant. Chocolat, café m, caramel et de légères épices complètent un cocktail qui se veut agréable. L'alcool à 8,5 % répond bien à l'amertume et aux arômes torréfiés. En deuxième bouche les arômes maltés s'affirment avec une intensité à son maximum. L’arrière-bouche est sur une fraîche amertume bien trouvée. Le final, d'une longueur acceptable sans plus reprend notre duo malt/houblon en rebaissant d'intensité par rapport à la seconde bouche ce qui est quelque peu frustrant. Pour une bière fumée, cette Ghisa est vraiment appréciable.

Tap @ Flink Gegist Festival. Almost black. Licorice and smoke in the aroma. Rather thin, Apple syrup, licorice, smoke and roast in the flavor. Tasty but thin.

Gezapft bei Stone Tap Room Sehr dunkles Braun, brauner Schaum. Aroma: Bittere Schololade, etwas Kaffee, Nuss Sehr trocken, Geschmack: Speck, Rauch, Bitterschokolade Eher cremig. Für ein Smokebeer sehr angenehm, weil moderat.

Draught at Ammutsøn. Very dark brown body, with a big, creamy, lacing, dark beige head. Aroma of bacon, toffee, coffee, dark chocolate, some tobacco, slight dark fruits. Tastes quites similar, while a bit lighter. Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a low carbonation. Finishes smokey, wooden, dry, with coffee, cocoa powder, tobacco. Very nice. A Bamberg like smokiness, combined with Stout notes. The taste is a bit light though,while the nose is really lovely. Not outstanding maybe, but really enjoyable. Score: 8 / 4 / 7 / 3 / 15

13-02-19 // bottle at Stone Brewing Tap Room Prenzlauer Berg - Berlin. Fantastic. Dark black. Nose of smoked dark bitter malts. Lovely creamy body. Dry roasted malts. Loads of coffee. Well dosaged bitterness.

Draft at Flink Gegist Festival ‘19. Near black with a thin tan head. Aroma of smoke, licorice, chocolate, caramel, rich malt, coffee and toffee. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Light full bodied with soft carbonation.

Tap at Flink Gegist festival. Black with brown head. Strong smoke, licorice, roasted malts, seaweed, dark chocolate and coffee. Over medium sweet and bitter. Aslmost full bodied. A bit too smoked maybe, but nice.

From tap at Birra Italian craft beer bar, Berlin. Black color with beige brown head. Roasted malty aroma, chocolate, licorice, caramel, smoked notes - wood. Sweet and light to moderate bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

F: huge, tanned, very long lasting. C: black, totally opaque. A: dark malts, peat, smoked tones, smoked meat, woody, dark caramel. T: very malty, smoked tones, caramel, bit vinous, dry on the palate, smoke, harmonic bitterness, nice balanced roasted malts, medium to full body, medium carbonation but it takes very long to pour the glass, great beer for the style, fully enjoyed, 33cl bottle from trade with Werckmeister, many thanks man.
