Red amber with a small off-white head. Fruity aroma with figs and dates, and a touch of port. Rich and sweet fruity flavour. The sweetness gets quite heavy

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden amber to brown with no head. Smooth and fruity hoppy aroma with a sweet caramel malt and breadish base. Flavour follows this closely and is rather sweet. Nicely spiced and lingering breadish sweet into the finish. Full bodied.

275ml bottle, the store had it marked as 1998 or 1999 if I remember right but I could be confused, there’s no date on the bottle - Pours dark brown with no head. It has a heavy malt aroma mixed with a touch alcohol. The flavor is very malty with maybe a touch of dark fruit. It’s full bodied. This one was alright but certainly didn’t impress me. Of course it might have been too old.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was sweet and fruity with notes of cherry, plum and molasses. The flavor was sweetish with notes of cherry, raisin and moderate amounts of molasses. There was a light light fruity hop presence on the finish.

Purchased at Knightly Spirits in Orlando. Pours a crystal clear amber with nice mocha head. The aroma consists of sweet red grapes, plums, dates, melted caramel, dark chocolate and a hint of toffee. The taste plays a wonderful melody across my palate. Initially I get just a faint touch of olive that quickly turns into sweet caramel, plums, prunes and sweet raisins. There’s also a tasty malt combination of toffee, chocolate, roasted malts and just a little black patent burnt type malts. Nice complexity. I only wish this was a 500mL or 750mL instead of this puny 275mL bottle.

9.3 oz bottle from Styles! Nose of raisins, caramel, brown sugar, molasses notes, and light alcohol; hazy rusty brown with a very small beige head; flavor of dried cherries, caramel malt, and very light hop bitterness; finish being slightly sweet and a little molassey! Pretty good English Barleywine!

275ml bottle from the brewery shop, Lewes. Clear ruby colour with thick dark beige head. Decent strong malty beer with Christmas cake characteristics. Malt and burnt raisins. Really very enjoyable. Good malt structure and heavy hop on end to carry the alcohol. Really rather good.
