Super citrus notes on the nose, boozy mouth feel.

16 oz. can that the brewery held after the release day. (Same day release) has a bright yellow appearance, lots of frothy lacing. Aroma and flavor reflect. Fruity notes right up front, floral in the center, ends on bold pine resin. Good amount of malt, but hops rule.

Reminds me of other bolder older DIPA's that pack a lot of punch. ABV not hidden at all. Bold and bitter but I dig it.

Draft at Snallygaster 2017. Poured a cloudy yellow orange color with a creamy white head. Aroma was lots of tropical fruit notes. Light pine resin notes. Flavor was about the same, nice tropical fruit, light pine notes.

Soupy one here with the typical brass-golden color that goes with it and a white head atop showing low retention.
All sorts of dank, rather spicy hop notes with pepper, pine and lush vegetal greenery. I wouldn’t call it overly tropical, though. As usual, it feels like it’s quite dry based on the nose, as very little malt breaks through. Cracker and biscuity wheat-like notes with soft guava and light earthiness as it warms and breathes. Clean, with no alcohol noted and pretty low on the resin despite there being quite a bit of pine and other spicy notes.
Surprisingly sweet in the mouth, though it’s certainly still on the dry side. I suppose it’s just more of a relative thing. Malty sweet with honey-like notes and tons of buttercream-like wheat character that really helps to balance (maybe overbalance) the hop character. Pine and spicy, lush, green (aka dank) notes abound and the bitterness seems all but soaked up by the malt. Kind of an extreme or very prototypical example of the NEIPA, though importantly, it’s not yeasty. Melon and guava linger gently on the finish. Interesting and quite nice. Maybe a bit sweet, but tough to really complain about that.

This was poured into a tall tulip.
The appearance was a semi-dark pale orange to brown color with a sustaining finger’s worth of white foamy head that held for a little bit and fell at a good pace. Slight lace.
The aroma had some sweet grassy to orange to tangerine to herbal to semi-sweet nutty arrangement up front flowing freely right on into a delicate sweet malt base, somewhat biscuity and smooth.
The flavor was a nice blend of sweet to grassy and bitter quality with an underscore of the herbal and nutty sweetness making a good play at the overall taste. Aftertaste was quick with a sly nutty to tangerine sort of blend.
The palate was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. The ABV felt good. Ample smoothness to merge with the bitterness which really didn’t impart the harshness I used to get in a AIPA’s, but hey not even sure why I said that - this is all new these days.
Overall, well, they pulled off a DIPA with nuts in it. Did I like this? Yeah, I guess I did. Quite different though, I will say that.
