Winner of FIVE Great American Beer Festival medals, three of them gold, including our 2023 award for American Strong Pale Ale! Plus a 2024 World Beer Cup bronze medal for American-Style Strong Pale Ale! Our drier, decidedly “tropical” IPA that’s light on bitterness, but heavy on hop aroma, courtesy of 100% Mosaic hops. One whiff and you get super intense notes of passion fruit, mango, and lychee. Grain bill of just American two-row malt and a clean fermentation keep it simple and allow these hops to shine.

Can at Ratebeer Awards. Pours a cloudy gold with medium frothy off white head that lasts. The aroma is strong tropical fruit, dank, earth. Medium body, juicy hop, dank, pineapple, mango, light bitterness, enjoyed this.

Thnx to bart. Pours rather unclear blonde. Small white head. Smell is fruity. Bit bitter, mild sweet notes. Taste is bit sharp, crisp malty. Fruity, the typical ’hazy ipa taste ’ nice intensity. Very good.

The beer is a bright gold color. Looks pretty clear. White head. The aroma has lots of nice hop fruitiness. Apricot, nectarine, light kiwi, pineapple, mango, melon. A little bit of crackery malt. Very crisp and light. Mild bitterness. Good hop flavor. Light caramel. A little mild but quite pleasant. Easy to drink.

Canned 9/13/16, drunk 11/4/16, thanks to Joenugs for the trade!
Lightly to moderately hazy, rich honey-gold with a medium-sized, white head showing light retention.
Pineapple, mango, nectarine and watermelon are supremely soft and juicy in the nose with leafy, green, dank notes and light honey from the well-attenuated malts. No resin or alcohol. Low esters.
Still wonderfully hoppy at almost 2 months old! Juicy, soft and malty but well-attenuated. Pure tropical fruit juice, honey, cracker and balancing bitterness with low resin. Pretty nuts its this good at almost two months old. Really soft, juicy and yet dry with engaging carbonation with no alcohol or flaw. Thanks, Joe, this was great! New England is slowly taking over the world....

Tap at Final Gravity in Roseville, CA. Pours brassy gold with a white head. The aroma is really mixed fruity hop. Med + body IMHO. Flavor is so fruity it’s dank? Fruit for sure. For me it’s dank or close enough. Hoppy bitter finish. Didn’t notice the malt. This is a really great IPA. --- Beer merged from original tick of Mai Tai PA Tropical IPA on 25 Dec 2021 at 21:34 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8.5. Original review text: Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours translucent gold with a foamy white head. Aroma clearly declares wannabedank, but it's tropical too. Med body or better. Flavor is dank for me, but there's passion fruit, citrus and white berry. Caramel must be sought for. Clearly enough for support, but the hops obliterate it. As they should. Fairly towards dry. More than fairly towards bitter. Sort of tropical West Coast. Excellent.
