It pours a dark brown with reddish hues, small but persistent head of tannish foam.
Smells malty, chocolate, vanilla, Bourbon, light coffee, brown sugary.
All in the taste with chocolate and vanilla taking center stage. Bourbon compliments rather than detracts, milk chocolate sweetness, alcohol is hidden pretty well.
Fullish mouthfeel for this high octane Brown Ale. Recommended.

Coffee and fudge. Caramel, molasses and leather. Dark brown pour with decent head and lacing. Some smoky tobacco. Bittersweet finish. Decent but not to the level I'd drink much of it.

Draft. A- Coffee, earthy, vanilla, chocolate. A- Brown color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Chocolate, vanilla, earthy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Solid brown ale. The chocolate really comes through with a bit of vanilla. The coffee seems to add a general roasty element. Pretty tasty, but expect nothing less for Founders.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours clear, but very, very dark, brown with a slight beige head. Aroma of coffee and dark chocolate. Full bodied. Flavor is pretty much the aroma plus some vanilla and lactose. For me the bourbon is pretty hard to find - but it's there. Even some oak astringency. Very strong flavor.

12 oz bottle. A red-brown pour with an off-white head. Coffee, cocoa aroma, vanilla, touch bourbon. Flavor, perhaps predictably, has milk chocolate and roasty coffee, vanilla, bourbon, dark fruit. Rather sweet. Definitely pretty nice.

Bottle from Holiday Market. Pours a chestnut brown with a finger of beige head that dissipates quickly. Coffee and creamy vanilla creamer on the nose with bourbon and faint oak aromas. Medium to a bit thin on the body with some light fruit notes that sit along side coffee, slight charred bourbon oak and vanilla. Smooth finish with a coffee bitterness and warming bourbon note. Enjoyable.
