And like every family, we have had our ups and our downs, but we keep coming back together knowing we are stronger together. In your hands is a special nod to you, a gift for now that will continue to give many years from now should you have the patience to wait…Brew 5000. This English-style barleywine ale uses floor-malted English barley, Noble hops, and is aged in 10-15 year-old, single use bourbon barrels for 16 months to bring you a complex and subtle craft beer flavor experience. We brewed this to celebrate brewing our 5000th brew, and we look forward to sharing it with you, our craft beer family. “Barleywine Is Life." – You

Team tasting at CBJ, thanks to the team for the bottle. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Soft rich creamy caramel malts, good rich ripe fruity bourbon. Smooth and very rich. Simple stuff all in all but, done right. Lovely rounded barleywine. 8.3

Bomber - pours a dark ruby with a thick, soapy head - nose of treacle, dark fruit, caramel, sherry, light whiskey, oak, hints of oxidation - low carbonation, slick in the mouth, but the back-end texture thins out a little - flavor is similar to the nose, but also brings a slight acidity on the tail end to temper the high sweetness - the faintest hints of acetobacter developing way in the back - raisin, brined cherry, whiskey finish - nice.

Bottle pour from Valley Beverage Company. It's an oily, hazy, maple syrup brown with ephemeral thin cap of beige head, nice viscosity. Aroma is strong caramel, raisin, cherry, bourbon, vanilla. Taste is strong caramel, mellow bourbon, raisin, lighter vanilla and oak. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, very smooth and well balanced. Decent complexity but was expecting a bit more.
