This Imperial Stout is robust yet retains an amazing ability to be so smooth it could be called Velvet Elvis. Dripping with chocolate and caramel with enough roast and and hop bitterness to balance itself, this beer is dangerously drinkable.

Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, touch of caramel, some coffee, cocoa, more roast. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a moderate bitterness. Body is medium to full. Good straightfoward Impie, solid base for barrel aging.

Can sample at a tasting at Stas's place. Thanks Stas. Black. Chocolate, soy sauce, sweet, umami and bitter, boozy.

12 ounce can. Opaque brown color. Frothy tan head settles to a small creamy tan cap. Roasted malt aroma hints at chocolate and toffee. Big roasted malt flavor upfront. Notes of French roast coffee, bittersweet chocolate and burnt sugar. Quite rich and full bodied. There is and underlying earthiness and smoothness that makes this quite appealing. Elvis would be pleased.

12oz can from Halftime. Near black pour, tiny beige ring. Big roasty aroma. Flavor adds some coffee notes, dark bitter chocolate. Smooth, bitter, dry. And damn good...

From a can. Not as complex as I hoped for, but good roasted malt flavor, as well as chocolate. This is sweet and the alcohol packs a punchm

12 ounce can from Festival Northland, 12/19/20. Black, large frothy brown head, good retention. Aroma of roast, dark chocolate. Almost brownie batter. Taste is chocolate, brownie batter, cherry, roast, dark chocolate. Full bodied, booze well hidden but noticeable. Nice beer and a bit too drinkable for the ABV.

The aromas are dark malt, roast, leather, tree bark and a little solvent. Flavors are thankfully not over sweet, similar to nose with some bitter and good carbonation to balance. Decent body and carbonation but with hints of solvent and medicinal in the finish.
