For the 2020 vintage, we had the honor of visiting the famous cherry winery and orchard and harvesting our own cherries. We also got to visit and talk with owner Harald, and winemaker Jonas, and pick their brain a bit. After a day full of tasting and learning about cherry wine production, we headed home with a brain full of knowledge and ideas on how to improve our beloved cherry beer.
The result was a shorter maceration than previous vintages, with twice daily pump-overs to maximize skin exposure and keep the temperature of the maceration homogenous.
We are ecstatic with the results, and we know you will be too!
Aged for 12-36 months.

On tap at Mikkeller at Morebeer. Pours opaque mahagony with a pink head. Tons of musty old berry skins, horse shit, leather. Flavour has musty old leather, manure, old barrels. The barnhouse funk here is incredible. This is an excellent farmhouse beer.

Tap at Baghaven. Deep ruby pour with a white head. Nose is huuuge sour cherries, incredibly intense and inviting, and it’s combined with a fair amount of funk too. Taste is big sour cherry, some marzipan as well, lots of funk, a citric hint too, vague leathery notes. It’s juicy and dry at the same time with a medium to full body, drinks below the ABV. Outstanding.

From tap at Mikkeller at Morebeer, Amsterdam. Lovely tart cherry aroma with barnyard funk, oak, blackcurrant, additional dark and red berries. Tart and medium sour. Body is medium. Brilliant cherry aroma with funk and a good tartness, quite up my alley.

Draft at Taphorst festival. Color: Dark purple, pinkish purple head. Aroma: Tart, dark cherries, some funk. Taste: Sweet and tart dark cherries. A lot of cherry... Some cherry pit, tannins Some wood and subtle farmyard funk. Tartness wins over sweetness. Nice and refreshing fruit-forward Wild Ale in between a lot of dark and boozy BA Stouts.

(Draught at Mikkeller at Morebeer, Amsterdam, 11 Aug 2023) Dark red colour, almost black, with frothy pink head. Fruity, sourish nose with blueberries, citrus, oak wood, red berries and sour cherries. Fruity, tart taste with notes of blueberries, lingonberries, lemon, oak wood and sour cherries. Low bitterness. More than medium body, dry. Rich and tasty, with lots of tart berries and oak wood. Great beer!
