Our brewers don't get out much, but when they do, they come home with more than a sunburn. Our much-loved Double IPA is testing the tropical waters with notes of mango and citrus-derived entirely from exotic hops. Pass the conch, hold the fruit.

Can at Wasatch. Clear golden with soft, silky head. Aroma features some citrus , tropical notes, pretty light. Taste comes in strong, hops obliterating every other flavor. Classic hoppiness with a tropical twist.

12oz can. Big and malty, but also displays some pleasant tropical hop tones. The tropical hops and the sweet malt almost create a candy-like sweetness. Not exactly World Class stuff, but drinkable enough. Not the most pleasant aftertaste.

The Hop Rising DIPA did not do much for me. Let us see if the tropical version is an improvement. Found as a single 12 oz can, I am pouring heavy into a smallish but appreciated beer glass. It arrives a clear, fairly standard yellow finished by a heroic head of off-white foam. The nose, a good start, pine, grass and lemon. A drink should tell the tale, though. Better than anticipated. Light with orange and pineapple, pine cone, a bit of hoppiness, small on the bitterness. One could do worse. One and done for me.

Sample at Arizona Strong Beer Festival 2019. Dark golden with a small white head. On the sweet side with hops, tropical fruit and some bread. The body was medium and the finish quite bitter.

On tap not very hazy deep golden pour. Big dense fluffy white head. Mild smooth citrus and tropical hop flavors but with the 2x IPA punch. Liked this one

Ever so slightly golden coloured body with a thinnish off-white head with a few bubbles rising amongst. Aroma of light tropical fruits like guava and papaya with little else, perhaps some curacao notes and a mainly biscuity and grainy malt scent that dominates with the alcohol as well. Medium-bodied; Strong malty and biscuity notes throughout with a big yeast presence and quite a bit of astringency from the alcohol and punch with only a tiny bit of fruits detected at all. Aftertaste ranges from the astringent and pungent malt and alcohol flavours and finishes with the light hop bitterness and more subdued guava notes that give it at least some fruit characteristics. Overall, a decent beer at best - good in principle, just not in execution. Too malt-forward and not enough complexity from the fruits to make this truly enjoyable, but it was nice to sample at least. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha [Papillion], Nebraska on 06-November-2018 for US$1,99 sampled in my hotel room here in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska on 08-November-2018.

12 ounce can thanks to Craigers. Pours a clear golden hue with a large white head. A soft tropical nose. Big intense bitter orange peel, perfume, a bit much. Sort of like eating a orange peel. Certainly different than the regular version. Not footbalming this one, it grew on me a bit.
