3.8 Miles opens with bright notes of ripe mango, fresh lemon zest, juicy pineapple, and candied apricot, followed by a subtle resiny dankness to balance. For this follow up to 38 Blocks, we kept the base beer mostly the same, but started with a brand new hop bill consisting of nearly 8 lbs of Mosaic, El Dorado and Lemondrop hops per barrel. The slightly higher attenuation allows the soft, creamy mouthfeel to hold up to the incredibly bold hop character without finishing too sweet. Despite the assertive hop character, 3.8 Miles maintains excellent drinkability as a result of the lower bitterness achieved from adding all the hops in the whirlpool and dry hop.

16 oz can from Tavour. Bright orange golden pour, frothy head subsides to ring. Aroma is gruity, tropical, citrus, even a little stone fruit. Taste starts with some mango, oranges, grapefruit peel. Velvety feel, bitterness lingers.

The Aromas are citrus hops, burnt sugar and a bit of mint. Flavors are very much like nose, balanced Bittersweet with low bitter, good carbonation body and finish. Nice beer but not great.

Taste on draft at Trail's End. Pours a dull, hazy, orange color, with a big, frothy, white head. The aroma is pineapple, sawdust, white sugar, and apricot. Sweet and juicy, with a mellow, dusty bitterness. Light to medium body, with a sticky, astringent palate. This is an easy and nicely hopped IPA.

Can - pours turbid orange with a sticky lace - a lot of mango, orange, and lemon in the flavor, with some touches of pineapple - medium sweet, with a semi biting acidity through the middle - sometimes hazy IPAs aren't bitter enough, imho, but have a sharp acidity from the hops nonetheless - this is one of those examples - simultaneously sharp and sweet, like orange juice that is about to turn.
