Bottle from New Seasons Market. Pours out dark brown, still kind of clear, light coming in around the edges. Small cap of finely beaded beige head. Aroma is mostly Porter roast grains, very light, not much of the maple comes through. Taste then is a little bit weird, kind of flat, burned. Weak coffee, cheap cola. Not that enjoyable.

Coalition Brewing Co.'s Loving Cup Maple Porter 5.5% As a Montrealer, the Sugar Shack is a big part of spring so I saved this for the start of Spring. Nutty aroma, kind of cardboard texture and the flavor is meh. Coalition disappoints me and what a let down. Oh well, happy spring. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz bottle poured. This is one of those beers that just sounds delicious. Maple? Good! Porter? Good!! I purchased this with the idea that there was no way possible it could be bad. Certainly did not disappoint, though it’s not mind blowing like I had hoped. Pours a dark copper brown with a full inch of soda foam head Soft chocolate malt aroma. Flavor is chocolate forward, and maybe a hint of maple? It could just be that I know it’s there. A bit of a cinnamon spice, chocolate finish. All flavors here are mild, and I was expecting more of a big bold maple out of it. All in all, I enjoyed this.

Bomber bought somewhere. Pours a dark copper color with a small white head. A sweet nose of caramel, toasted malts, some maple maybe. The flavor is similar: maybe some roast, really toffee and toasted malts, sweet maple. A tad thin. Overall, good.

Draft at Coalition Brewing in Portland, OR on 4 June 2013. Poured a very appealing dark brown with a light brown persistent head. Surprisingly light, quite sweet aroma. Maple is quite forward on the flavour and the sweetness is totally balanced. The mouth feel is also a little watery, but the flavours are still good. Ok beer, but the Bourbon aged version far surpassed it.

Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours dark brown with a frothy 4 finger beige head. Aromas of chocolate and sugar. Med body with frothy carb. Flavor is dark malt and chocolate with what seems to be a hint of coffee. So far I’m not getting clear maple l- but there is a dark sweetness in the background. To me it’s finishing on the dry side. With earth and astringency compared to many porters. With a lot of time I think I’m getting some maple.

Tap at Beermongers, Portland - 06/11/12. Very dark mahogony brown with a thin off white head. Nose is light roast malt and treacle toffee. Taste as nose, light dark fruits. Medium bodied with soft carbonation with a smooth finish.

A dark clear reddish brown porter with a thin moka head. In aroma, a pleasant nutty chocolate, caramel, light butterscotch. In mouth, a bitter porter with bitter chocolate, faint maple extract, not bad. On tap at the brewpub, July 30 2011.

Dark nut brown color, small beige head. Toasted coffee in the otherwise caramelly nose. Light to medium bodied. Sweetish caramelly flavor with coffee and coffee beans. Not really a porter, more like a sweetish red ale with coffee.
