Cloaking Device stands as a tribute to these porters past. We brewed a strong Brett-fermented porter and aged it for nine months in French oak red wine barrels from our pals at the Larkmead Winery in California. It was then hand-bottled and re-fermented in the bottle with Champagne yeast. It is delicious, a versatile companion for food, and conducive to dreams of adventure.
Ingredients:
Malts: 2-row, Crystal 150, Crisp Chocolate, Crisp Black, Roasted barley
Hops: Summit, East Kent Golding
Yeast: Brettanomyces cultivated in our lab
Original Gravity: 21.1° Plato

Bottle at Piccadilly, Bod. 5 year old bottle. Pours a dark to brown colour with a beige head. Aroma of raisins, cocoa, balsamico vinegar, leather, heather, oak and wild berries. Flavour of ash, dark chocolate, red wine, coffee, black currants, balsamico vinegar and oak in the background. Has a slick and soft mouth feel, full-bodied and a light bitterness. Well balanced between sour and roasted flavours.

(Bottle) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted, funky nose with chocolate, coffee, brett, red fruit and vanilla. Malty, roasted, funky taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, oak wood, brett, red wine, liquorice, vanilla and a balanced roasty bitterness in a fairly vinous finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and quite funky porter, with a balanced touch of wood and red wine. Very nice.

Bottle pour at the source: pours black with a light beige head. Aroma is light funkiness, chocolate, coffee and earthiness. Body is way lighter than one would expect. Earthy, chocolate, malty. Good.
