330ml bottle [courtesy of Bartlebier - thanks a lot!]. Clear, copper colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Yeasty fruity and slightly yeasty spicy as well as fruity hoppy aroma, mello wmalty background, notes of red berries, red currant, some mandarine, a touch of nutmeg. Taste is fruity hoppy, slightly vinous and mildly yeasty herbal-spicy, hints of white grapes, hints of red berries, a touch of quince, diluted hints of cherry, a touch of mutmeg and clove, black pepper. Quite complex, well balanced, still refreshing and easy drinkable.

Bottle recieved with Euro Swap 2 2018, many thanks to Bartlebier! The beer has an red and orange colour with little foam. It has a nice hoppy and fruity nose. The taste is full, grain, hopps and sweet fruityness. Very nice!

The 2017 edition of this ‘Black Forest farmhouse ale’ by a small, new German microbrewer, thanks to tderoeck for sharing. Very thick and creamy, papery lacing, egg-white head, cloudy amberish orange blonde robe. Aroma of ripe papaja, frying onions, peanuts, bread crust, dried mango peel, raw cinnamon, red curry powder and a surprisingly refreshing and uplifting note of fresh mandarin flesh piercing through this all. Fruity onset in a mildly exotic way, green banana, mango and orange associations, medium carb, finely tingling in a soft, caramelly and peanutty malt body with a light toasty touch; finishes with aromatic, pleasantly spicy-herbal and citrus peel-like hoppiness, with some breadiness lingering. Not much farmhouse about this apart from a certain earthiness perhaps, but the ‘amber ale’ moniker on the label says it all, this is indeed a modern, American style amber ale with an earthy twist to it, lending it a bit more depth. Very pleasantly drinkable, this brewery clearly has a good understanding of Anglo-Saxon styles in spite of being situated deep in beer-conservative Germany.

Little cloudy deep orange to almost amber beer, creamy irregular off-white to yellow head, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: lovely stuff going on here! Floral, bit sweetish, some caramel, malty, some tropical fruits, a bit dank, very rich and complex aroma! MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: nice bitterness, bit fruity, malty, some red berries, bit of citrus. Aftertaste: sweet malts, bit yeasty, some barnyard, spicy touch, citrus, ripe tropical fruits, wonderful beer!

Draught at BKL 2018.
Deep amber, moderate hazy body, with a small beige head.
Aroma of caramel, red berries, citrus, bread, some dough, some grass.
Tastes similar, with some more spices, more dryness.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes medium bitter, a bit spicy, hoppy, fruity, a bit bready.

Nice one. Not very different to an Amber Ale, while with some more rustic notes, typical for a Saison. Well balanced and quaffable. Nothing outstanding, but very solid, with a good amount of character.
