In 1989 we opened our doors with our flagship, 90 Shilling. Still a favorite today, we’re celebrating our Silver Anniversary with a double version of the recipe that started it all. We’re a little bigger now, and 180 Shilling is too, with a hearty roasted malt base balanced by subtle earthy hops and aged on oak to create notes of toffee, plum, vanilla and dried cherry. Thanks for 25 years of beers, and here’s to many more. Cheers!

Bottle/Fest. A- Caramel, pine, malt. A- Copper color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Caramel, bitter, pine, sweet, malty. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- This was old school barleywine not wee heavy in my opinion. Couldn't love this one.

2019 version, 9.9% abv, all shown on the label of my 12 oz bottle that was acquired last November at a Ft. Worth Total Wine. I can say not my best style but I think Odell is top level as a brewer. The glass is a globe from New Belgium, it receives the pour now. A glossy, medium dark brown liquid with a fair sized head of silver-tan foam. I smell some dark fruit, wood and grain. And the taste is really pretty all right. Plums, oak, earth, syrup, a bit of caramel sweetness, dense wheat bread and raisins. Not bad all things considered.

Keg at CW Family & Friends, Session 2 @Manchester Central, 22/02/20. Chestnut brown to amber with a decent beige head. Nose is toffee, dried fruits, dates, dark malts. Taste comprises brown sugar melt, toffee, fruit cake, light spice, raisins, dates. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Lacks any real depth for the ABV but sips Ok.

12 oz foil-capped. Aroma is apples, vanilla, caramel, toffee, earth, dark fruit. Pours hazy brown but looks orange-amber in the light; has a one finger beige head that falls into a ring somewhat quickly. Taste is sweet and savory with malty flavors like the aroma descriptors. Good and interesting.

12 ounce bottle - labeled as 9.9% - dark ruby pour - creamy texture - exceptionally well-masked alcohol - flavors of oak, plum, toffee, smoke, cherry, vanilla, earthiness - smooth, round, balanced - pretty impressive, really.
