Dark brown. Medium head. There is a light and fruity note, fig, date, good complexity but wanting for richness.

Deep dark brown body with a smallish, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, tons of raisins and figs with a good caramelised sugar scent and a fairly large note of mushrooms and mellowed earthy malts. Medium-bodied; Assertive toasted malt notes with some earth and grain, but more of a caramelised sugar, toffee and light prune and plum sweetness that shows a lot of raisins and sugars more than anything else. Some coffee and more assertive bitter notes show at the end, but this is actually relatively smooth and subdued, especially for the style. Overall, a fairly decent Imperial Stout that is quite thin and showing some good tastes, however this has been aged for more than two years, which on purpose, has caused the astringency to die down. Nice to sample, especially from the region, but this isn't worth trying to go out and find and/or saving a bottle of this for multiple years like I did. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 03-May-2015 for US$8,31 sampled at home in Washington almost 2.5 years later, after being aged in a nice musty basement in proper cellar conditions on 14-October-2017.

Bottle from Fred Meyers. Pours out a dark brown with silky tight beige head. Normal dark roast malt aroma leads to a fuller, more robust flavor. Overall body is creamy and smooth, adding to the experience. First impression was ho-hum, but it gets better as it warms. Elements of chocolate in the finish.

Bomber from platypus in Bend. Pours a jet black color with a large brown head. A light fruity ashy nose. Dry, roasted malts, ash, vanilla, only light fruit. Very nice. Always liked dryer big stouts.
