Molten is the most aggressive IPA in our little family, yet it somehow manages a great balance… while still achieving full hop overdrive. This year’s offering is stronger than the last and features a more complex hop bill, with citrus notes dominating. Dry-hopped with enormous bagfuls of whole hop flowers, which provide added aroma and flavor without harsh bitterness. Watch out, this brew is deadly!

Bottle from LetsPour.com. Pours very hazy golden amber with a slight white head. Aroma is fruit/citrus. Med + body. Flavor is mild stone fruit, caramel moving on to citrus. Lots of hop, but not harsh. Finishes towards dry and very hoppy.

Draught at The Beer Junction, Seattle
Blond color with creamy head. Manure aroma, earthy hops, initially; some yeasty dough and feet later. Smooth and lean mouthfeel, with light pleasant sweetness; drinkable malts, followed by resiny hops.
Good beer, but with some flaw.

Sample at the Ale Wine & Spirits beer tasting on 06/14/2013: Pours a hazy orange-gold color with a thin off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, hops and sweet malt. Medium to full body with flavors of resiny hops, bready malt and tropical fruit. The finish is moderately bitter with a piney hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Keg at the taproom. Hood River, 24/05/13. Lightly hazed golden amber with a thin white head. Nose carries hops, bitter orange, light fart, grapefruit. Taste comprises bitter hops, sugars, bitter grapefruit, light pine, caramel malt. Full bodied with fine carbonation, hop bitterness in the finish. Respectable enough DIPA but no world beater for this genre!

Bottle thanks to MikeJ. Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. A nice robust fruity nose with lemons and resin. A nice flavor with citrus and bitter lemon bite, a bit of oranges and light resin. Very smooth. A somewhat unique herbal flavor, very good.

On tap at Bottleworks, pours a hazy golden with a medium beige head. Aroma of cat piss, moldy socks and skunky, herbal hops - WTF? Flavour is thankfully quite a bit better, with citrus and piney hops, dank earthy notes, and dry, slightly sweet biscuity malts. Actually a gorgeous beer, despite the off-putting aroma. Highly enjoyable stuff.

Draft at the taproom. Pours a hazy dark golden color with a small longlasting white head. Has a malty hoppy bitter pine aroma with resiny hints and hints of grapefruit. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter piny resiny flavor with hints of grapefruit. Has a sweetish malty hoppy bitter piny finish with a long bitter hoppy resiny aftertaste with some hints of grapefruit. Lovely stuff.
