Das Bier ist schön röstmalzig-herb. Die doch erstaunlich stark ausfallende Herbe kommt im Nachgeschmack noch einmal voll zur Geltung und bleibt mit den Röstmalzaromen noch deutlich spürbar lange auf der Zunge. Im Hauptteil kommt auch eine leichte Süße zum Vorschein, die aber nicht wirklich gegen die Herbe ankommt. Ganz zum Ende des Nachgeschmacks wird es dann wieder einen ganz kleinen Tick süßer…

Pours red-brown with a light tan head. Aroma of caramel malts with a little nuttiness plus floral hops.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty, breadish and caramelish. Bitter, roasted and caramelish. Bitter, toasted malty and caramelish finish.

Bottled. An amber beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of caramel, metal, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of metal, malt, and caramel, leading to a dry metallic finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear nutty brown with a small beige head. Soft roasty nose. Medium body, burned caramel and roast with some late hoppiness. Well made bordering a Schwarzbier. 011211

Draught at the brewpub as Bio Dunkel. Weak horse blanket aroma. Cloudy dark brown colour. OK stable off-white head. The flavour is quite roasted with a bit more horse or perhaps just stable. Has a fruity hint as well, which I do not enjoy much, but all in all a flavourful and interesting beer.

Bottled (BB 02/2010). Courtesy of bierkoning, tnx Edo! Nut brown color, small off-white head. Slightly toasted, caramelly and grassy nose. Toasted flavor, caramel malts, sticky toasted bitterness in the finish. Smooth aftertaste with some caramel and toasted maltyness. Pleasant dunkel

Bottled. Deep ambery colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is mildly toasted malts, toffee, some caramel and mild fruity/grassy notes as well. Flavour is sweet malty along with some toasted notes and toffee. Also some nutty notes

Cloudy chestnut. Rustic nose, but in a toasty kind of way. Has some farmy complexity. Very toasty character, almost burnt. Pretty cool, actually, as an assertive take on the concept. Finishing dry and abrasively toasty.

Draught @ Gasthausbrauerei Hufeisen, Pottenstein, Oberfranken/Bayern, Germany. Light unclear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, moderate to light heavy dust, celar, spider web, celar sulky. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (210308)
