From tap at Fierce Beer, Edinburgh. Big chipotle in the aroma, green pepper, blackened pepper, some dark malt. Spicy with some chili burn, but not as much as the mega-chipotle aroma would indicate. Not very challenging chiliburnwise, but it smells like someone holds a chipotle under your nose.

330ml can from Beer52, this version at 5%. Black pour with a beige to tanned head and mild retention. Aroma of roast, smoke, wood, chocolate, earth. Flavour is malty, modest roasty bitterness, wood smoke, touch of mixed dried fruit and then a healthy chilli spice. Just the right amount of the latter and thankfully lacks that nasty vegetation note you sometimes get with a chilli infused beer. Good.

330ml can via Beer52. Drank at Auntie Sue's place on 14th November 2024. Ruby hue to the almost black body, tanned affair on top. Peat Bog smoky aroma, taste is slightly burnt/smoking coffee with a peppery heat. Interesting and different.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A glossy black pour with a fast fading tan head; smoky aroma; silky in the mouth with some chocolate and roasted malts; then a dry acrid finish with some smoke and a hint of chilli bringing some warmth in the chest.

Keg at CASC, Aberdeen. Pours black with a tan cap. Aroma: light roasted malts, chocolate, spicy peppers. Taste: chocolate, cocoa, light roasted malts, then lots of chilli peppers spicyness. Medium body with frothy carbonation.

440 ml can, from the brewery webshop. ABV is 6.5%. Black colour, moderate and creamy tan head. Aroma of roast and smoked malts, coffee, dark chocolate and chipotle chili. The flavour is not too sweet, nor too dry, and has the same elements as the aroma. Very moderate hops, a moderate but nice chili burn in the aftertaste.

Nearly opaque reddish brown beer, decent beige head. Smoky, umami smell. I'm just gonna be upfront and say this has more chilli than I care for in this sort of beer. I like it as a vague kick underneath the overall taste but the chilli is a relatively strong flavour here. There is chocolate and malt in here too and I don't hate it by any means but the balance isn't for me.
