Originally brewed on the June Solstice of 2012 with our Danish friends Peter Sonne of Flying Couch and Christian Skovdal Andersen of Beer Here, this Farmstead® amber ale pays tribute to those early years and their continuing friendship. We have created this new iteration to honor that deep and abiding connection.

Note: starting from 2019, Sankt Hans was aged in oak puncheons. Check the year on your bottle to determine which you have.

Bottle thanks to Tuck. Pours a cloudy amber with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is a earthy malt and toast. Medium mouthfeel with tart citrus, bready malt, light dry finish. Very good.

750 ml bottle shared with JulienHuxley, Borresteijn & caesar @ Julien’s Klein Maar Fijn tasting. Amber color, (very) cloudy, murky. No head. Aroma’s: sour, brett. Flavor: sour, with a light bitterness. Light bodied. Finish is dry, light bitter. No idea why this is called saison. Not so pleasant, alas.

Bottled thx to Julien @ Julien’s neighbour is a metalhead according to Rob-tasting, small sample. Hazy amber color, medium off-white head. Aroma of peppery yeast, citrus, caramel, cookie. Slight sweet, bit dry, soft bitterness. Bit strange combination of flavors, not perfectly balanced. Ok stuff.

75cl Bottle, tfs JulienHuxley! Hazy light-amber colour, white head. Aroma is light sour, Brettanomyces, funk, apples, yeast, some caramel, reminded me of a really good Orval. Flavour is a lot more sour, lemons, funk, hay, yeast, hint of toast and caramel, tart lemony finish. Light-bodied, firm carbonation. Nice. Wouldn’t call this a saison though.
