2013 has been a big year for us. We’ve gone to Sweden, Australia, Germany and Japan, won awards, been to festivals, threw some parties, and put our beer on tap and in fridges across London, the UK and heck, the world.

We’ve kitted out the brewhouse with awesome new equipment – new tanks, a canning line, a hop gun and expanded our range of beers to include Gentlman’s Wit in bottle, Hells Lager in can, the Versus series and a whole load of other special and one-off brews like Redlight Waltz, Alsace Alt and Pete vs. the World. We’ve also grown in number, with lots of new team members joining us in our (now a little cramped) railway arches.

So after all that… we needed a drink. Enter Beer 2013, the first in a new series of yearly beers. It’s our Camden take on a Belgian Tripel. Very pale, unfiltered, dry and strong. A modern interpretation of a classic, in an edition of just 1800 bottles, designed by our friends Crispin Finn. 8.8% ABV, brewed with pilsner malt, hopped with Styrian Golding and Czech Saaz and containing the secret (and Christmassy) ingredient of Belgian candi sugar syrup, Beer 2013 Tripel will be available to buy from mid December in big 750ml bottles and to drink on draft at the Brewery Bar. Cheers!

Draught at Craft Beer Rising 2014. It pours hazy golden with a medium white head. The nose is sweet, doughy, spice, soft fruit and alcohol. The taste is sweet, bready, light spice, orange peel, caramel, candied fruit, some bitterness and alcohol warmth with a sweetish finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent balance. A solid Tripel by all accords.

Bottle, 75cl. A finger-thick, dense, off-white head forms on top of a more or less clear body. Some microfloaties. Piney hops, grass, white sugar, some pale malts, alcohol notes and a spiced hint. The flavor has a nice bitterness, some pale malts, piney hoppyness and a touch of white sugar. Hints of alcohol. Some warmth on the palate, semi-dry and with a pleasant carbonation level. Lasting finish. A pretty nice tripel. 140301

Day 2 of the post Xmas Bamberg Jolly, Cafe Abseits Tasting bottle thanks to Kenny, 25/01/14. Lightly hazed orange amber with a moderate off white swirl atop the glass. Nose is dark fruits, sugars, sweet tones, light booze, spice. Taste comprises bitter orange, caramel, tropical fruit tang, light booze, sweet but not overly so. Fullish bodiment, fine carbonation. Decent stab at a tripel, had many a poorer show in Belgique.

Keg at the brewery tap - Kentish Town, London. Pours hazy yellow-gold with a creamy, white head that leaves layers of lacing on the glass. Smells good, with lots of yeast, doughy pale bread, juicy fruits and wheat. Medium-big sweet flavor with buckets of fruity goodness, lots of bubblegum, melon, tangerine, watermelon, guava and papaya. Medium to full in body with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with minimal warmth, tons more fruity notes, tropical fruits, more bubblegum, Belgian yeast magic, doughy wheat, blood orange. Outstanding. I really struggle to find tripels that I enjoy nowadays but this one really restores my faith in the style. Superb.
