Taste true liquid luxury in this decadent and nuanced Belgian-style quad. Pear and apricot aromas blend with caramel, fruit and spice flavors in the full-bodied amber ale.

Warming alcohol notes mix with a lot of fruity fermentation profile on the nose. Big and bold, this beer is a boozy, savory treat. Rich caramel, clove, banana warming.

750ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, redd-ish, amber colour with small, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Sweet-ish, grainy malty and yeasty fruity, slightly bitter hoppy aroma, hints of cereals, honey, banana, dried apricot. Taste is boozy, bitter hoppy, sweet-ish, grainy malty, slightly yeasty fruity, hints of cereals, honey, banana, dried fruit, raisin, apricot; warming, alcoholic finish. Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, medium to fine, soft, mildly prickly carbonation. Quite boozy, sweet and simple, inadequately hoppy - meh!

From Jan 2006

Poured from bottle(bottled on Aug 27th 2004) a ruby semi *clear* gold with a very nice head of foam that diminishes slowly but never leaves the scene.

The smell was immediately apparent right after I removed the stubborn cork....a whoosh of mixed fruits including bananas and plums. Oh, and there's a bit of a sour smell there as well. Could be good. ;^)

The taste is very fruity as well. Tons of plum with some banana and some citrus and also, a sweetness that smacks of caramel. In the far background, I sense a bit of clove. Wow. This son of a gun is so complex and wonderfully harmonious with its flavours. And dang, the 12% abv is there but is pretty well hidden. Why was this beer retired??? Thank goodness I have 3 more bottles.

*Clear as in I'm drinking from the first 3rd of the bottle. What is left in the bottle is looking a bit more cloudy.

Btw, I've had this one a couple of times in the past(+2 years ago) and the bottling dates weren't a year and a half from when I tried them like this one(much less) so the aging done by Liquid Solutions or whomever has definitely paid off big time, imho!

Bottom line: If you see some around your neck of the woods....grab 'em!

Pours murky amber from the bottle. The frothy white head soon fades. Aroma is apple cider, plum, vinegar. Taste is sweet with caramel and fruity notes, soggy sponge, tart apple vinegar. Big bodied with mild carbonation. The imperfectly hidden alcohol makes itself felt in the finish. Okay.

Really top notch stuff like Cohiba cigars. Coriander and loads of florals. Golden pour with good head and lacing. A little grass and some citrus. Wonderful complexity. Light sweet finish with some astringency. Nice. Bottle.

Bottle at Tap-House Munich for my rating #7500. Dark amber to Brown, Low offwhite head. Honey, spice aroma. Fullbodied, some sugar notes, Belgian fruity yeast notes: fresh apple, fermenting tropical, light banana, sweet potatoe. Chewy, caramel grain, fitting hop backstop. Good Belgian notes, perhaps a bit too sugary, but quite drinkable nonetheless.
