Relatively recent addition to the Hook Norton range, a dark mild with a light beige head and dark mahogany colour; malty aroma, chocolate, coffee grounds, raisins, candied dates; malty, simple taste, soft sweetness, smooth and somewhat thin mouthfeel, restrained bitterness in the finish. Simple indeed but in that sense a typical mild, nothing exciting, but I’m not sure this genre is very suitable for really exciting beers...

Delicious golden amber brown. The aroma is caramel, toast and a little bit of butter. Very light bodied. A little bit toasty. It’s ok, probably more bland than I would like.

On gravity at Reading Beer Festival, 01/05/09. A rich, fruity mild, with plenty of sweetness, nuts and dried fruits and a slightly dry finish. Easy and enjoyable drinking.

Cask Conditioned at The Castle, Furnival St., London
Dark amber color; thin frothy head. Too simple aroma. Good caramel flavor, well bitter, with a touch of rhubarb candies. Not complex but well brewed.

[Gravity cask at Milton Keynes beerfest] Chestnut brown - quite light for a mild. Rich roast malt with some sourness and a dry mouthfeel, but ultimately rather one dimensional and watery.
