Leafer Madness Imperial Pale Ale was created during the great hop shortage of 2008, but there is no shortage of hops in this beer. Brewed with large amounts of 2-row malt, Munich malt, and multiple hop varieties, this 9% ABV, 100+ IBU hop monster quenches the thirst of those who crave the lupulin!

Draught at the Horse Brass. Glowing amber-orange color with lace. Faint aroma—slight citrus hop, light malts. Caramel malt flavor with huge hop bitterness. Peppery, grassy, relatively light malt presence. A huge hop showcase, but unbalanced and rather unpleasantly bitter, although more caramel kicked in as it warmed up.

This bottle gushed profusely when it was uncapped. Tall sticky white head over a fairly clear orange body. Malty with some nice spicy hops. Bitter with a smooth dry finish.

Bomber from Bottle Barn. Nose of light pine and floral hops. Hazy orange with a medium offwhite head. Falvor is light bitterness, some caramel sweeyness, and a very lightly bitter finish. Way too sweet!

Bottle (pretty fresh as they have only just restocked this after carrying the Hop Harvest edition). Pours with a largish bone colored, creamy white head that leaves lacing as it resides down. Hazy orangey-yellow body. Very, very strong lace. Aroma is nice and hopped, very fresh, mango, citrus and grass. A good amount of caramel too. A bit of vanilla and alcohol esters as well. Taste is very clean and not as hoppy as I would like. Alcohol and caramel come through first. A bit of pine and bitterness on the finish. Dry and clean. Not lingering. Good DIPA, but I could imagine that this would degrade quickly into a very "ho-hum" beer. Drink Fresh.

Deep hazy amber coloured body with a potent orange glow and a dense tan head - looks very nice. Aroma of fresh hops, citrus, pine, grapefruits and a bunch of malt. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong assertive hoppiness with fresh piney and citrusy hops tucked into a bunch of malt, sugars and a lot of alcohol. Aftertaste shows some character, with nuts and toffee coming through most. Overall, a good beer - more like a typical IPA than an Imperial, but still showing a lot of body and alcohol. I enjoyed this, but would have preferred a normal IPA more. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased on 07-February-2009 from Lee’s Discount Liquor in Las Vegas, Nevada, sampled on 28-February-2009 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Bomber courtesy of a trade with ditmier. It pours a very nice IIPA hazy deep gold with thin off white head. The aroma has a pleasing mix of pine to grassy hops, citrus and resin hop bitterness. Some malt comes to the surface too from time to time. The taste is sweet with malts first then growing orange and pine hop flavor quickly moving toward hop bitterness. The bitter hops peak around midway with the solid hoppiness blowing away the slick sweet malts trying to get a foot hold on the flavor. It finishes with lingering hop bitterness and a mild warming sensation.

courtesy of ibrew2or3. We tasted two versions of this beer, sadly the label didn’t really mention much difference but a date, this one had the yellow cap.Pours amber with white head. Aroma has good notes of caramel mixed with herbal hops nose. Taste, light caramel malts and nutty, some hoppy fruits (apricot / peach) almost spicy.
