Can from Corti Bros. Pours dark brn/blk with a small creamy tan head that didn't persist. Aroma of chocolate and bourbon. Full bodied. Not dry but avoids sticky. Fair amount of heat. Burnt malt, chocolate and bourbon for flavor. Good stuff.

2017 bottle from Weihenweizen shared at share by me: pours black with beige head. Aroma is chocolate, restrained dark fruitiness, vanilla and wood. Taste is slightly boozy, dried fruits, whiskey notes. Solid.

Love the big bottles of imperial stout. Ivan the Terrible came home with me from a trip to Chicago this summer to see the Cubs sweep the two games we watched. Bottle put up in 2018, label says 111 of 4500. I'm sharing with my daughter tonight, using my Cowtown snifter for this tasting. The pour is coal black with a persistent, tan skim. I have a good smell, chocolate, dough and strawberry. I follow with a drink. Ash, dark chocolate, biscuit, caramel, malt and just a touch of booze. Actually somewhat subdued, not as forward as other imperial stouts. I have room in my life for both.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, single to perhaps two centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of deep roasted malts, pitted fruit, raisins, nuts, vanilla and a healthy amount of chocolate - more from the milk side of things than any dark chocolate/full cacao notes. Medium-bodied; A touch thin from the age with a full roasty and vanilla flavour at first that shows the alcohol punch, a lot of nuts and pistachios with a good chocolate and sweet finish, mostly from the pitted fruits and raisins. Aftertaste shows mostly the roasted malt, alcohol and sweet notes, but some oak dryness and a bit of the pit fruit flavours come through that show some deeper cherries, plums and a touch of bourbon and alcohol. Overall, a nice enough Imperial Stout that has aged fairly well, but still shows a bit harsh and pungent through the flavours - but the body has lost some in age. Nice to sample, but there are better that have done better in the bottles. If you have a bottle, I'd say keep for half this time (perhaps two years) then drink, to conserve room in your cellar for other options. I Sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Steamworks Liqour Store in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on 08-June-2015 for CA$4,95 sampled at home back in the great country of America on 25-February-2019, about 3.5 years after purchase.

Dark brown, thin head, dark fruits, light bourbon notes, toffee and raisins. Alcohol, moderate bitterness and a again lots of fruity, toffee sugars.

Bottle 848, 2016, drunk 12/8/18, shared by TJ.
Earthy mahogany. Clear with a light tan head that fades quickly to a ring.
Smells weird. Ummm, meaty? Peppery? Old socks? What the hell is going on here? More of a sour than a stout. Some bourbon, not too overdone, at least. I think there's an infection though.
In the mouth it's watery, loose, super boozy, filled with light acetone and vinegar. Damn. No bueno.

Poured from bottle 2016 thanks Adrien light cola with a tan head. Aroma is oak roasted malt chocolate. Taste is oak chocolate roasted malt.
