12 ounce bottle from Binny's Lincoln Park. 2015 vintage. Opened in honor of the too soon departed BBB63. Black, large foamy, kinda fizzy, tan head. Good retention. Aroma of strong roast, vanilla, booze, leather, a bit of stone fruit. Taste is roasted malt, booze, raisin, chocolate, vanilla. A little hot, but not offensively so. Big, full bodied, chewy

On tap. Pours black with moderate creamy nitro head. Aromas of creamy chocolate and roasted malts. Flavors of dry dark chocolate, creamy coffee, nuts and dark roasted malts. Very dry; the nitro is a good match. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ivan the Terrible Imperial Stout - Bourbon Barrel on 22 Dec 2019 at 03:12 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 5.5. Original review text: 750 ml bottle. 2019 vintage. 10.1% Pours a very dark brown with moderate fizzy head. Aroma of raisins, sour mash, and sweet toasted malts. Flavors of oak, booze, hardtack, sugary raisins and toasted malts. Acidic and a little vegetal in the finish. Base stout may not be a good match to the barrel. Or maybe a bad bottle. Poor quality for the price.

(Bottle) Pours black with tiny tan head. Nice aroma - toffee, chocolate, raisins, smokey notes. Great palate - full bodied, oily with some stickiness and gentle soft carbonation. Great taste too - there's plenty of toffee / molasses sweetness overlaid with dried fruit at the start and some decent bitterness in the finish. Very nice.

Poured from 12 fl oz bottle (2016). Jet black with small tan head. Lots of roast malt with some sweet chocolate notes and subtle coffee. Feintest hint of bourbon on the finish. Fairly good.
