Can. Deep brown body with a frothy tan head that rapidly diminishes. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, light metallic, ash, earthiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery/sticky texture, lively carbonation. A bit of a chalky finish. Taste of roasted coffee and chocolate.

Can from West Side (canned October 2015). Pours a deep brown to black with a small brown head. Deep roasted cacao, treacle notes with some Nutella and light soy sauce. Some baker’s chocolate bitterness still in the finish. Hides the booze well for 7%. Holds up pretty well, will re-rate a fresh one when I can grab one. --- Beer merged from original tick of Pay It Forward Cocoa Porter on 08 Nov 2016 at 17:11 - Score: 7. Can shared at a tasting at Tempo. Thanks drfabulous for this can! Dark brown to black with a rather creamy tan head. Pleasant aroma of roast, cocoa, and a bit of coffee. Sweetish flavor with cocoa, some roast, and a drier finish with a bitterish touch. Medium-bodied, rounded mouthfeel. Very nice.

Can thanks to Alex! Pours opaque black with a small beige head that leaves decent lacing. Aroma is roasty with dry baking cocoa notes, rye bread. Flavor is light sweet and medium bitter, dark cocoa, roasted malts, a hint of rubber. Medium body, lingering bitterness into the far finish. Solid enough.

Can shared on the bus during RBWG 2015. Pours clear brown with a foamy off-white head. The nose holds burnt pine, light roast, cocoa. Light sweet flavor with ashy roast, dried dark fruits and dry earth. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. More ashy roast, earth and bittersweet chocolate in the finish. Not bad.
