Bottle. A hazy one, amber in color and with a dense, finger-thick beige head leaving lacings. Lightly sourish nose with spices, caramel malts and pumpkin spice. It’s full-bodied, dry and faintly tart, with a nice carbonation level. Pumpkin spices, caramel malts, lemon notes, some dried fruits and a generic sourness in the flavor, lasting for good while. It’s warming all the way, but not much considering the ABV. A decent one indeed, but I’m not impressed. 150724

Bottle @ ZEBF 2015. Strange beer. Basis is a barley wine, with the usual raisin and malt. But on top of that it has a layer of spices, pumpkin, booze, grape, caramel and cherry. Creative and great.

Bottle @ Zeebra 2015, small sample. Slight hazy orange to amber color, short head. Aroma of soft pumpkin spices, some caramel and toffee, bit vanilla. Slight sweet in taste, soft bitterness. Not too heavy on the spices and in combination with a BA barleywine, turns out really nice.

375mL capped bottle poured into Alaskan Brewing Smoked Porter snifter glass. Dark amber-orange color, too dark to see through. Just a small head. Upon first sniff and then drinking the beer for a while 2 characteristics are apparent:
1. lots and lots of pumpkin and spices, overbearing, takes on a lightly sour character
2. despite being 12% its a subdued, mild barleywine with low alcohol perception and no astringency.
Don’t get barrel and I wish I could just drink the unspiced portion. Actually, its becoming aversive as I keep drinking. Good thing I only paid $4 for the bottle as opposed to the standard $10.
