Got in a trade with RaulMondesi. 375 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 8/4/2014. Pours hazy dark orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tart cherry, pumpkin, green apple, caramel, brown sugar, toast, red wine, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, oak, leather, vinegar, light vanilla, and oak/spice earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, spices, and oak barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big tart cherry, pumpkin, green apple, caramel, brown sugar, toast, red wine, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, oak, leather, vinegar, light vanilla, and oak/spice earthiness. Fair amount of earthy spiciness and fruity tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of cherry, pumpkin, green apple, caramel, brown sugar, toast, red wine, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, oak, leather, vinegar, and oak/spice earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, spices, and oak barrel flavors; with a good malt/spice/tartness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and fairly creamy/acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice pumpkin beer. I obviously got an infected bottle; but it still turned out very tasty with balanced malt, spice, and barrel flavors with the tart/fruity yeast notes. A very enjoyable offering even with the infection.

375 ml bottle from Imbibe Wine. Nose is light nutmeg, cloves, pumpkin, cinnamon, and hints of oak and brandy. lightly hazy copper orange with a medium, heavy lacing beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet and pumpkin pie spicy with just light hints of brandy warming my taste buds

Bottle share.
Thanks Matt Reece/blackcloudlabel.
This was poured into a sample flared pilsener glass.
There was a nice light half finger-ed white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving a slight lacing roaming here and there.
The smell had an authentic bourbon to vanilla sweet and somewhat pie - like/crust to light bread and even biscuit - like to an extent.
The taste was mainly sweet and bready toasty /biscuity - ness roaming across my tongue. Light vanilla to roasty sweet aftertaste leading to a sweet and dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. There’s a light sweet carbonation about it.
Overall, definitely a pumpkin ale I could come back to with extra compliments to it.

GABF 2014. I didn’t like this. It has a strong aroma of alcohol, and this is also present on the palate and in the flavor, in addition to the flavor of fresh squash; or, alcohol squash soup.

Location: Bottle from Syosset beverage, 11/23/14
Aroma: The nose has some pumpkin spice, nutmeg, sweet malts, and a little booze
Appearance: The pour is a darker orange color with a small head and some light lacing
Flavor: The taste is long the same lines, but with more booze and bitterness, and less spice
Palate: The body is light-medium, lighter than I expected, with a clean feel, and a short finish
Overall Impression: This one wasn't a favorite for me. It's not bad, but I really expected more from Almanac. I wouldn't turn it down, but I wouldn't rush out for it again either.

Sample at Kurtkeller 017: Pumpkin-tastic 02 on 10/13/2014. Pours a hazy chestnut color with a medium thin khaki head that diminishes steadily to a sparse outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, roast malt and spices. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, oaky vanilla and brandy with subtle spice in the background. The finish is boozy with a pumpkin spice and brandy aftertaste. Enjoyable beer all around.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours deep orange with a small head. Aroma is wood, brandy, roasted pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of booze. Taste is somewhat sweet. Brandy is a strong flavor. Spices add a nice and complex undertone to this beer. Plenty of flavor. Pretty good. Booze is pretty well covered too. No way I would have though that this was 12 percent.

Bottle. Pours hazy burnt umber, medium puffy beige head, dissipates quickly with great lacing. Aroma is light, notes of caramel, brandy, fruit, some spice notes but muted. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, barrel notes muted, lots of fruity, but not really pumpkin per se. Light spice notes, allspice and nutmeg. Medium body, a bit of heat, but pretty well masked for ABV. Not up to last years...
