12.7 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy murky orange with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out nice pumpkin notes, butterscotch, candied sugar, and pumpkin spices. Flavour is certainly unique, with notes of butterscotch, pumpkin spices, pumpkin puree, and some slight tartness. Very unusual flavours, but it somehow works to a degree. Not my favourite, but I applaud the effort.

Sample at Kurtkeller 001: Pumpkin-tastic 01 on 11/22/2013. Deep copper-orange color with a medium off-white head that recedes slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of pumpkins, toffee and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of pumpkin pie spices, caramel malt and figgy booze. The finish is sweet with a lingering boozed pumpkin aftertaste. Good beer overall.

12.8% bottled Autumn 2013 that is a 37.5cl bottle that is courtesy of GT2. So a barrel aged pumpkin barleywine. Wow, that is ‘out there’ but I’m game. It pours with a hazy rusty amber body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up ripe cherry fruity esters, smooth sweet brandy, blended and blunted cinnamon and brown sugar coated wood. Well off in the back, if I concentrate, there’s snippets of pumpkin meat notes. The taste erupts with a multi facetted flavor attack. I get ripe cherry and prune like sweet fruity esters, fairly smooth sweet brandy booze notes and then cinnamon. Next the brandy gets boozier and a touch harsh but a pleasing mix of pumpkin meat, cinnamon graham cracker and a highly toasted pumpkin pie crust hold this together and take it to new heights. Wow. What the… Smooth notes of cinnamon, brandy and mild pumpkin hang on into the finish and after taste. Very cool experience. This beer begs the question, will there be a non Heirloom Pumpkin version (just regular run-of-the-mill pumpkins)? I just need to get up to the brewery and start bugging people and asking questions until they toss my sorry ass out. Cheers! (dang, the wife likes this too!)
