Half, cask hand pulled at CASK Pub and Kitchen. Dark as the devil. Black naked surface. Aroma of coffee malts, slightly roasted. Cocoa, coffee grounds and earthy malts in a mid-sweet taste profile. Beneath it all there is also a touch of blackcurrant. Gets sweeter towards the ending. Hidden alcohol. Rather well balanced and medium to full bodied. A bit heavy to drink, but still a very good drink (London, 22.03.2011).

Cask handpull at Cask Pub & Kitchen. Black beer with thin tan head. Wow now this is a thick tastyy berr. Reminds me of Mikkeller Beer Geek except for the annoying liquorice finish. Sweetish. Yes coffee and choc and oatmeal. Really good except for the liquorice finish which I dont like. Coffee is lively though. So impressed

My 800th rated English beer
Opaque dark brown color, small brown head. Strong aroma of coffee beans and cold coffee. Light to medium bodied. Tastes like cold coffee. Some sweetier malts in the background. It is all coffee stout. Works ok.

On cask at CP&K. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich-roast coffee, dark chocolate, burnt sugar and toast. It tastes of toasted marshmallow, caramel, toffee, liquorice, toast, leather and charcoal, with a bitter finish. It’s smooth, well balanced and very drinkable for the percentage. I was really impressed by how well this beer drinks.

Cask-conditioned in the Three Tubs, Bristol, 4/03/2011. Opaque and near black in colour with a slight, tan head. Big aroma of black coffee and dark chocolate with a suggestion of porridge in the background. Flavour was driven by coffee beans, with a touch of sweetness and surprisingly short, dry finish. Unusual and drinkable.
