A warming dark beer that’s perfect for the colder months. The rich malt base is layered with plums, cherries and blackcurrants, topped off with a sprinkling of cinnamon and lemon zest. The end result is a hearty beer packed with caramelised sugar, festive fruit flavours and a toasted finish.

Keg at The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer, Brisssle. Dark and glossy - a plum tint that is entirely in my mind?! Thin foamy beige head. Aroma is initially very sweet and all plum before coffee bitterness perks up. Flavourwise it's has a wave of sweetness over a bitter core. Bitterness shuts shop. The bitterness keeps the sweetness in check. Heavy. Oily. Soft prickly carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish.

Bottle from Bottle Baron (2017) and can from House Of Trembling Madness (2026). Black body with a thick tan head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of liquorice, plum, wood, chocolate and salted caramel. Flavour of dumpling, brown sugar, cherry, berries, toffee, Turkish Delight and a hint of cinnamon on the finish. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A complex, warming beer. Lovely.
