Bottle. Super dark black, one of the darkest brown heads I've seen on a beer. Sweet oaky-whisky-nose, with a lot of cacao and roast notes. The flavor has a bit of soy, whisky, and quite some oak astringency. The alcohol from the cask really comes through, a tad too much perhaps. But very nice complexity with big bitterness and a lot of roasted malt.

Munich Ratebeer Group Tasting at Jonas, Garching Friday 22nd October 2021. Pours black with a filmy off white head, some black treacle, molasses, thick mouthfeel, liquorice coffee and chocolate, this is very nice, the barrel ageing softens this slightly. Like this a lot.

Bottle. Black color with beige head. Aroma is a bit too much booze, but decent cocoa and roast too. Taste is really great cocoa, a bit wood sugar and caramel when you chew it a bit.. Velvety mouthfeel with smooth carbonation.

Flascherl (Jahrgang 2017, Flaschen-Nr. 01500/10800, Alk.: 11,5%, IBU 47): VERY dark amber coloured with an almost invisible reddish sheen, quite slowly collapsing small off-white head, solid and complex sweet-bitter aroma of roasted malt and dried berries, accompanied by traces of bitter chocolate, vanilla, wood and alcohol in the background; very robust sweet-bitter flavour, a light acidity added, full bodied, silky MF; lingering sweet-bitter, more fruity than roasty-caramelly finish with a gentle alcohol-burn in the aftertaste. Great Festbier...

(bottle, 33cl) Black coloured hue with a brown and short foamy head. Slightly roasted malty, moderately oaky and slightly sweaty aroma with notes of dried fruits, vanilla, mocha and dark chocolate. Roasty bitter and mildly sweet flavour, full bodied with a silky mouthfeel. Robust roast-malty taste with a cornucopia of flavours like mocha, dark chocolate, vanilla and a little bit of funky sweat; roast-bitter and very lasting slightly boozy finish. Extremely enjoyable. 27.III.17
