Bottle 50cl. @home poured into a footed pilsner glass. Slightly hazy pale to medium amber colour, good creamy off-white head, slowly diminishing, good lacing. Aroma roasted malt, caramel, smoked ham, some umami, citrusy hops, retronasal smoke. Taste slightly above medium sweet and light bitter, malty, some roast, smokey, some umami. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, malty. aftertaste medium sweetbitter, grainy notes, well balanced, less outspoken rauchbier than the usual suspects, good example for a mild rauchbier, very nice.

Nice looks. Pours slightly darker than amber, almost perfectly transparent. Medium sized, rather pillowy white head, shows good retention and very nice lacing. A very mild but well integrated aroma: significant sweetness (significant in the overall balance, but not potent) with caramel notes and hints of honey, perhaps also a hint of chamomille, very light smoked character (hard to pick something specific, maybe a smoked ham hint, surely no ash/campfire character), a hint of floral hops. Taste notes follow the aroma closely. Sweet entrypoint, a bit of (clean) residual sweetness in finish/aftertaste, maybe with a borderline citric fruity hint to it. As mentioned for the aroma the beer leans towards sweetness, but it's a pleasant, delicate sweetness, and balanced enough by a hint of dryness from the hops and also by a light and not at all unpleasant acidic note. All in all a very pleasant taste profile, though certainly not an assertive one. Feels pretty light in body, maybe even more than expected for the abv, with low to average, delicate/soft carbonation. It's a pleasant half soft half smooth mouthfeel. Overall: a mild but very well made interpretation of the style: delicate and soft.

Unclear dark amber with a big fluffy head. Smoked ham, caramel, lemon, lemon zest, roasted malt. Malty sweetness, citrusy sourness, some umami. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry roasty smoky malty bittersweet finish. Nice.

Optisch dunkelbraun, ordentlich Schaum. In der Nase rauchig, dezent. Im Trunk ebenso, dazu Holzfass, Wurstplatte, würzig, süß, fast schon süffig. Lecker Ding.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a cloudy amber with a lacing, off-white head. Caramelly nose with discreet notes of balcony smoke. Solid malty body. Again caramelly and biscuity malts, soft on the palate, soft carbonation. The smokiness is even fainter. Very subdued bitterness. But easy drinking due to the very discreet degree of smoke. 210624

500ml bottle. Opalescent, amber colour with average to huge, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Mildly smoky and sweet-ish, caramel malty aroma, hints of beech wood ashes, a touch of smoked eel, dark caramel. Taste is sweet-ish, caramel malty and mildly smoky, woody, hints of caramel, a touch of bark, beech wood ashes, bitter hoppy counterpart. Oily-watery texture, rather dry palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Mild smokiness, a tad heterogeneous and disharmonious, a tad overcarbonated as well - just a mediocre Rauchbier.
