Bottle shared on the train during the Christmas Bamberg Jolly - January 2014. Pours clear, bright gold with a creamy, white head. Very nice, moderately sweet, notes of cereals, faint smoke, biscuits. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, soft smoke, more biscuity malts. Enjoyable.

Malty aroma in which I also detected raisins. A slight hopbitter taste, fruity (apple, raisins). A hint of cherry. Medium bodied beer, a bit vinous. I didn’t detect anything of the smokiness, as promised on the label. Hopbitter finish. Not bad. Re-rate, more than a year later: hint of smokiness in the aroma. Full bodied. Malty flavor, the smokiness comes up after the initial sip, but stays in the background. Some apple fruitiness. Lovely, well made beer. The tap version, tasted In de Wildeman has an even more pronounced smoke character.

Bottle. A- Mild smoke, iron. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Smoke, ham, metallic. P- Medium body, slightly thin texture, average carbonation, slightly astringent finish. O- Okay. The smoke is there but not upfront and there is a iron and metallic flavor that ruins the overall experience.

Clear amber with medium white head. Aroma is lots of ham, salt, caramel. Taste is crisp hop bitterness, a little salt and malty sweetness. Not so smooth, a little aggressive. Meh.

Tolle Bernsteinfarbe, in der Nase leichtes Rauch, setzt sich im Trunk fort. Hintenweg süffig würzig. Tolle Mischung!
