Lune 2012 has a nice light copper color, it is clear and has no head. It releases balanced scents of honey and vanilla, with hints of nuts. When sipped, slightly acidic notes are counter-balanced by subtle winy nuances, accompanied by touches of almond and cooked fruit. The finish emphasizes the warmth and pleasant character of this beer.

Amber barley wine with no head. In aroma, a smooth vinous treacle malt with earthy notes, madera, pinot de charente, soy sauce, umami. In mouth, a smooth warming alcohol, with vanilla notes, grape skins, light bitterness, superb. Bottle at Mondiale 2012 , June 9 2012.

500 ml bottle @ Patricks. Wow, this is an amazing beer. A bit expensive but I have tasted it four times now, perfect for cheering. Slightly unclear oily body with no head. Strong aroma of dry apricot, other citric fruits, ripe fruit and malt syrup with noble alcohol. Flavor is very sweet, dry fruit and other fruit as in aroma, caramel syrup, malt, warming alcohol, Sherry and Madeira. It’s very sweet but not becoming to sticky as there is a fine balance with the alcohol. It’s just amazing and incredible smooth.

Süßlich trockener, sehr geschmeidiger Beginn, Fruchtig, deutlich Vanille, unglaublich balanciert. Weich, rund, süffig, man kann den Alkoholgehalt nicht erkennen. Sehr gut! /13/12/11//12

Bottle, at Patricks. A headless one, orange-golden in color, quite oily pour. Dried apricots, some orange, a touch of cellar and some vanilla. Almost rubbey. It’s very oily, full bodied and quite low on carbonation. Pleasant bitterness. Vanilla, peaches, citrus and sweetness in the flavor. Alcohol too. Lasting finish with warmth, bitterness and some sweerness. And orange. Certainly a nice one. 120614

08/03/2012 Open Baladin Roma (10cl tasting). Corpo medio, consistenza vellutata, setosa, alcol molto ben nascosto. Barley wine originalissimo e di grandissima finezza. Un capolavoro.

100ml from tap, served in a snifter glass at Open Baladin. Clear amber body colour, missing head, bright surface. Aromatic with dried and spiced fruits. In-depth flavour of dried fruits, like apricot, vanilla oak and toffee. Velvety vinous throughout with warmth from the alcohol. A very completely made brew. Enjoying (Roma, 31.03.2012).

Bottle @ Miss January / AA Meeting Afterparty Tasting, March 2012. Pours clear dark copper with bubbles on top. Nose is fruity and rich. Lots of white wine and oak. Matured and vinous. Toffee and caramel beneath. Complex. Lovely flavor. Nuts, caramel, dark fruit, oak and white wine. Sticky and oily. Pleasant warmth . . Best Barley Wine I’ve had in a while.
