Sample during the "Uber-Kurt (10,000) Celebration" on 12/13/2014, part of a vertical including 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2006, 2002, 1997 & 1988. Brownish-amber pour with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, dried fruit, malt, trail mix and brown sugar. Full-bodied with flavors of earthy yeast, dark fruit, candied sugar, grainy malt and grape. The finish is fruity Belgian yeast, white grape and caramel malt. Endlessly complex and enjoyable. Superb beer all around.

Bottle. Pours dark with a tan head. A very complex dark, malty, fruity beer with floral notes. Amazing aroma and flavor fruit, yeast, citrus, alcohol, spices, oak, vanilla, the list goes on and on as flavors change. The best Trappist beer I have ever tasted.
