Santa knows who’s been naughty and who’s been nice. This is one seriously naughty but nice beer.
Santa’s Little Helper, our Imperial Stout, starts with an emphasis on dark cocoa and roasted coffee aromatics. The finish lends hints of sweet crystal malt, warming tones of alcohol and a touch of hops, making a perfect accompaniment to leftover fruit cake and sugar cookies.

Draft. Pours black like used oil with minimal head. Aroma of dark roasty malt with some floral hops. Chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and oak. Taste is about the same. Full bodied with a thick texture. Lively carbonation and a long long long finish. Overall, very good. I would like to try it out of a bottle, at home, where I can really enjoy it.

22 ounce bottle. Pours a dark brown opague color and is topped by a thick dense tan head. Araoma is earthy, with notes of coffee, cocoa and mild tobacco. Rich chocolate malt flavor upfront. Complex flavors abound including espresso, roasted almonds, licorice and dried currants. Finish is nice balnced by some resiny hops. Overall, a very delicious Imperial Stout.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Black with a medium, thick head. The aroma was rather soft, the taste was very roasted. Also some notes of smoke. The finish was bitter with a long aftertaste. A nice one!

Location: Draft at Cork City, 12/15/12
Aroma: The nose has some roasted malts, vanilla, chocolate, caramel, and winter spices
Appearance: It pours a dark brown, almost black color, with a light brown head
Flavor: It tastes a little sweet, heavily malty, with a good amount of spice, and a little hop
Palate: This one has a medium-plus body, average carbonation, a fairly smooth feel, and light heat
Overall Impression: I thought this was some pretty good stuff. I wouldn't call it a world beater, and it was a little overpriced, but that might be bars fault, not the beer's fault. Either way, this one is plenty good, and certainly worth trying.

Enjoyed on tap at Delilah’s as part of their winter beer tasting in Chicago, IL. I didn’t take tasting notes for this one, but thought this was the sweetest of the 21 holiday brews that I sampled. Appearance was a moderate dark brown with a very very small dark tan head. Aroma was mostly sweet with brown sugar and alcohol the dominating factors. Taste also was very sweet and I could tell that it packed an alcoholic punch, but it didn’t leave my throat feeling rough or anything like that. All in all I thought it was pretty enjoyable and would definitely have it again.
