Santa knows who’s been naughty and who’s been nice. This is one seriously naughty but nice beer.

Santa’s Little Helper, our Imperial Stout, starts with an emphasis on dark cocoa and roasted coffee aromatics. The finish lends hints of sweet crystal malt, warming tones of alcohol and a touch of hops, making a perfect accompaniment to leftover fruit cake and sugar cookies.

2006 bottle. Opaque black stout. Soft palate. Rich creamy dark malt, just a little roastiness. Some lactose sweetness and a little well balanced hop counterbalance. Dry finish, more lactose sweetness and a trace of coffee in the aftertaste. Decent.

Slow poor from a 22 oz. bottle into a snifter produced large foamy, thick, beige head that shrank real quick. Decent retention. Nose of nothing but roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt with a hint of chocolate in the finish. For a Imperial Stout, this isn’t bad but nothing great. It doesn’t have one element to make it standout in any way. It gets much better as it warms but I’m glad I got this on sale at Juilo’s Liquors in Westborogh, MA, for a good price. Ok, but I will not buy again. Shared with LiteWait.

0.65l bottle. Pours a dark dark brown body with a tanned quickly fading side-claiming head. Nose is sweet roasted malts, vanilla, wood, roasted coffee and chocolate. Full-bodied and low carbonation. Could easily cut this brew in half with a knife. This is one heck of a sipper, with nice flavors of roasted malts, vanilla, coffee and dark chocolate balanced with a good amount of hops. Is there some hints of spices in here also perhaps? Slightly bitter and hints of alcohol in the aftertaste. I don't believe Santa is allowed to operate his reindeers after emptying this bottle.
