Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours clear copper with a slight beige/tan head. Aroma of light stone fruits and caramel. Med body. Flavor is roasty malt with some light fruit. It has a hop profile reminiscent of Morland’s Tanner’s Jack. Tho the malt is way roastier. Cute label. Nice flavor.

31st August 2012: Icelandic or should I say ‘Einstok’ tasting evening at a mates house. He’d bought two bottles of four different Einstok brews. All poured carefully into a ‘Straffe Hendrik’ badged chalice. Last beer of the four was a 33cl Bottle of this (best before 10/2012). Dark brown, deep, deep amber coloured body with a thin almost white head on top. The malty nose had chocolate and toffee esters to the fore with caramel arriving later. The taste was also malty sweet, with the same flavours as the aromas except there was a distinct burnt bitterness towards the end of each gulp. Not sure whether it came from hops or the dark chocolate malts? Most enjoyable and the best of the four Icelandic beers I had that night.

[Bottle from Beers of Europe] Pours amber brown with a moderate but rapidly diminishing beige head, and a middling amount of thin, prickly fizz. Chocolate up front followed by a bit of granite and some butter and caramel. Then a big hit of sweet, dark rum (mmm, I like rum) which makes the beer taste strong than its true strength. The roasted malt comes through at this point in Horlicks form, with a tiny hint of ash. A few grassy hops escape giving a little dryness, but really this is all about rum and caramel. The mouthfeel is possibly a little cloying, leaving an odd clay-like coating on your tongue. Nevertheless, it’s pretty decent, surprisingly complex, and I do like that rum!

Bottle from thedrinkshop.com. Dark amber color with small white head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, toasted bread, yeast, syrup. Surprisingly not so sweet as I thought, it will be. Taste, fruity, bread, caramel. Fruity finish with light bitterness in background. Good one.
